Last Wednesday, the Dutch Safety Board (Onderzoeksraad voor Veiligheid, OvV) visited the EPST office in Utrecht. Members of the Dutch Safety Board will follow a course in the coming weeks that focuses on updating knowledge on the aviation activities of the Board.
EPST supports the Dutch Safety Board
Because the Dutch Safety Board is an official investigative body in the aviation sector, it is important that the affiliated researchers stay informed of the latest developments in the field of aviation and all aspects that come with aviation training. EPST supports the Dutch Safety Board with knowledge, skills and facilities for this training.
Under the guidance of the EPST training team, the members were updated on, among other things, (renewed) aircraft systems, working methods and ‘threat and error’ management. Three more training days will follow, including practical exercises in EPST’s Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG simulators.
What does the Dutch Safety Board do?
The Dutch Safety Board is an independent and autonomous investigative body that carries out its work independently of governments or other parties. The Dutch Safety Board mainly investigates situations in which citizens are dependent on governments or companies for their safety. The Dutch Safety Board decides for itself which accidents or incidents are investigated.
The goal? Continuous research to formulate recommendations and improvements, ensuring more safety in the future.
In the aviation sector, the Dutch Safety Board is obliged to investigate every incident, so the knowledge must be at the highest level at all times. This underlines the importance of the training at EPST.
